Attacked!

Chapter 1

‘’Run Ella, run!’’ those were the last words her mother had said to her.

Ella had ran blindly. Her dress torn from the sharp thorns. The Terror had attacked her village. They had known it would attack . All the others kingdoms

and villages had been attacked, destroyed …

Ella collapsed onto the mossy floor of the forest,

panting. She had run a long way. A  movement in the corner of her eyes caught her attention. She stood up ‘’who's there?’’ she asked.  Nobody answered. She asked again  “who’s there?”

Then a boy about 14 years old dashed into the clearing.  “Run!” he shouted, “the Terror is here! ’’.

They both ran. They heard terrible noises and trees fell down all around them.

Then she saw a cave up in a tall hill, she pointed to it and the boy nodded. They swerved  to the right. They dashed in. The cave shook as the Terror tried to get in. After about 10 minutes it gave up and walked away . ‘’Do you know what happened to my village?’’ she asked. The boy nodded.  ‘’The Terror leaves no survivors…’’

Happy Fathers Day

My dad is a great person. He is funny, kind and loving. And he knows every-thing! So basically he is the greatest person in the world! But even the best people make mistakes and this is one of them…

You see we had a family over for dinner, and we planned on having a BBQ, so they got out everything. But the wind was really strong and the food refused to cook. So I said ‘why not put on the lid’ And….. dramatic pause. It worked! Well, duh it was my idea!

And  then the sky had the brilliant idea of letting the sun shine. So it was fun. We played games and had fun until… the BBQ needed air to keep the fire going and since the lid was on their was no air and so we had to open it a little bit to get some air.

We ate dinner, and then the kids roasted marshmallows on a SMALL fire and then it turned into a bonfire. And the marshmallows caught on fire! Then...super dad to the rescue! Came in and said ‘don’t move’ and then walked up to the fire and put some more wood onto it and the fire calmed down.

So we continued eating marshmallows until my mum said it was time for cake and ice cream the cake was a thick chocolate cake. We all had chocolate covered faces by the end. And then we still had the ice-cream left!

After we had finished the ice-cream we all played monopoly. I was a very stingy banker, and I utterly killed my brothers, but it was still heaps of fun. But what made it the best day ever?

My Dad.

The greatest, funniest, kindest Dad in the world.

Cross Country

Sophie and Grace grabbed their bags and lined up.

They were best friends but sometimes they did argue but when they did they always made up.

“Arghhh, not Cross Country” moaned Sophie

Why are they forcing us to do this?” said Grace “I demand justice!”

Today was Cross Country. They would be running in a large field spiked with dangers including, sheep poo, nettles and mud. They would have to be careful not to step in any of them.

As everyone got into the buses Grace noticed that not everyone would fit on the buses as that doors closed. Sophie shouted “wait, stop!” but it didn't stop so they were stuck outside school.

Finally another bus came to pick them up this time they rushed to the bus so that then would not get left behind again.

Finally they arrived. First Grace and Sophie had to hike up a big hill. But before they got out Grace said “ what are all those little brown dots on the hill? “ I  don't know” answered Sophie.

When they got up close they saw that the dots were actually poop! “Well off to a great start huh?’ grumbled Grace “Eww” said Sophie.

Since they were year 6 girls there race was still a long way away so they drew together in a coloring book that Sophie had brought to keep them entertained.

Year 5 girls….

Year 5 boys…….

Year 6 boys ………...

Year 6 girls!

“Oh no, its our turn!” moaned Sophie. “Come on” said Grace “we might as well get it over and done with” “but.. but i HATE running!!!” screamed Sophie but in the end she went over with Grace.

Ready set GO!  The girls ran as fast as the could then just as the finish line came into view they heard a call from a bird. They looked up to see the biggest bird they had ever seen swoop down and snatch them up in its claws.

“I'm too young to die i'm too young to die!” screamed Sophie “Oh shut up I’m trying to concentrate on getting free" Grace shot back “We're passing over a forest” then without warning, the bird let go.

“AHHHHHHHHHH!!” The girls both screamed as the plummeted towards the forest.

Darkness descended upon them.

Grace was the first to wake up, “Sophie” she murmured.

“SOPHIE!” She shouted as she sat bolt upright. Sophie was lying a few meters away, not moving.

There was no blood but she was very still “Sophie oh please wake up please!”

No answer.

Meanwhile, at home…

The girl's parents were worried. Where could they be? They had not come to the finish line nor had they come home on the bus.

It had been 3 hours now and the girls parents were really worried

But little did they know that far away in a dense forest both of their daughters were stranded . . .

Finally Sophie’s eyelids started to flutter, then she opened her eyes and said “Grace?”

Grace hugged her so tight she thought her rib cage would break. “Don't ever, ever scare me so bad” Sophie smiled faintly  “Ok”

They heard footsteps. The girl's eyes flashed open. “What was that” whispered Sophie “dunno, probably a fox or something”Then they heard voices, then Grace recognised one of the voices. It was the police officer who had saved Pumpkin, her cat. “Over here!” she yelled. Then a flashlight came into view. It was a search and rescue party!

Then they heard helicopter blades and a rope came down they looked up. and saw a police helicopter inside were the girls mothers. They rushed down to meet them.

“We were so worried!” said Sophie's mother “ it's ok Mom i'm ok” answered Sophie. Mother and daughter climbed up and flew away home..

They never did Cross Country again.

On target!

Agency Target:

In Gri11 2.0 we have a Agency Target. To you it may look like a dart board but it is something quite different. Don’t know why we have that? Don’t worry, this will help! In Gri11 our classroom is built on trust, so we made an Agency Target.

There are six segments on the agency target, these include:

Learning Spaces, In GRi11 2.0 we have many learning spaces. We have the Hub( our main classroom), the hangout( a place where you can talk with friends), the hideout( a silent space), and the hall of fame ( a room where you can go where you need somewhere where you can still talk but not too loud)  

Striving for excellence, We should always give our best, which is why striving for excellence is one of the segments.

Knowing myself as a learner, If you know where you are at, it will help you to set goals and achieve them.

Learning pit, When you go into the learning pit you are challenging yourself, if you just walk over it you would not be learning anything

Collaboration, Somewhere in life you will have to collaborate with other people meaning that we practice in GRi11 2.0 we work with people we usually wouldn’t This helps us to develop social skills

Managing and designing my own learning,  It is always fun to design your own learning, but we also need to make sure that we make the most of our time.

We place ourselves on the target. This is an example of  what a progression of learning spaces .There are 3 stages:

Red: I cannot chose where I sit. I always talk, I need to be told what work shops to go to

Orange:I can chose where I sit but I sometimes need help, I know which workshops to go to.

Green: I can chose where I sit , I know what workshops to go to, and know my learning strengths and weaknesses.

We built up our agency goal over the year. This means that we have added new and old knowledge to create it. Also we have  reflection time which is when we write down our achievements.

The agency target is something that only GRi11 2.0 has making it something special

Greece

Greece

Located in southeastern Europe, Greece is a fascinating place with sandy beaches, blue seas(below left)and ancient ruins from B.C.E. (Below right) and, with Athens at its capital, Greece is truly a piece of paradise.

Greece is one of the nations that are going to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As the founding nation of the Olympic Games and in keeping with tradition, Greece will enter first, leading the Parade of Nations during the opening ceremony.

This year for the Olympics Greece with send 89 talented athletes to compete in the 2016 olympics.

       With a population of 10,917,083 Greece has chosen only their very best athletes to compete.

In Greece the most popular tourist attraction is the Acropolis, an ancient temple that was dedicated to the Greek goddess of wisdom, Athena.The Acropolis was originally seen as a fortress. It was meant to protect Athens from attacks. As the years went on, the people of Athens saw another purpose for the Acropolis. They wanted it to be a beautiful symbol of Athens.

The citizens of Athens believed their city was the best in the world. They believed the Acropolis should be as grand as the city itself. They spared no expense. The best sculptors, artists, and architects were hired to construct the buildings of the Acropolis.

Greece buries 80% of its rubbish. Greece is struggling to manage a colossal garbage problem as recycling fails to and landfills fill up and expand, posing serious health and safety risks. Greece  faces millions of euros in fines from the European Commission if they fail to close down all illegal landfills by the end of the year.

In Greece because of all the factories all of the smog the comes out of them is hanging over Greece like a shadow (below left). The government is trying to stop using coal in attempt to reduce the smog so far it has slowly been working!

Also Greece has a garbage problem (below right) as they have so many hotels that have so many people and so people make rubbish and they have nowhere to put it so they dump it in rubbish dumps and it stays there :(

Haiku!

School Production!

College Street Normal is proud to present... 

This year we are lucky to be doing a school production!

Cinderella and Rockerfella is just like the classic, except that Prince Charming is a rock star! Cinderella's stepsisters try to do every thing they can to ruin the romance.

We had adouitions for lead rolls, i aditions but i didn't get a part though :(
Every person in the school will be included so we all have to practice.

Today was our first performance since we only come on in Act ll we go to watch Act 1 form to top seats put all together it looked really good and we thought that all of our friends (who of some were leads) we amazing and we couldn't wait to get backstage.
 As the curtain went down we were able to go and get backstage my friends Maya and Dorothy were part of the fairy bragaide looked really good in makeup.
 Although Maya said that the fake eyelashes were torture (but i think that she was just being dramatic) soon it was time for us to go onstage we came on and welcomed all of the guests  The list looked a bit like this:

Mr and Mrs Swift and their daughter Taylor
Mr and Mrs Mccaw and their son Richie
Mr and Mrs Winter and their daughter Chelsea
All played by actors in case you were getting excited. (no, Richie Mccaw did not come)

 Then we had a short break for 15 minute we danced back stage to shut up and dance with me.
To make a long story short it was the best night of my life!

We have all been practicing so hard and we hope all will go well on the big night!

My favourite place to work in Gri11 2.0 is...

In Gri11 2.0, we have many spaces to work and learn in. But sometimes we might have to move to a different place to get our work done.

My favourite place to work is in The Hub.

The hub is what we call our main classroom                                                                                                
The Hub is coloured mainly green because it is mostly a 'social' space, but does target the other colours too. It is a great place to work if you can work in a noisy space or if you want to work with other people. Of course i do also sometimes work in the other spaces. They include:

Buckingham palace!

Recently I went a a trip with my dad to Africa, London and Paris. We went for my grandpa`s funeral.


On the way back we stopped in London. There we stayed with his friend John who had a daughter named Megan and a son named Raphael. Megan had a baby bunny which was really cute and liked to sit on the sofa when we ate breakfast. 

Buckingham was really cool and we got to see the changing of the guard.   The changing of the guard is formal ceremony in which the guards that are guarding get to go back home and a new group of guards will then come to guard.

The Victoria Memorial is a monument to Queen Victoria, designed by the sculptor Sir Thomas Brock. There are 775 rooms in Buckingham Palace including the 19 State Rooms and 78 bathrooms.
 The State Rooms are a suite of lavishly decorated public rooms in Buckingham Palace where the queen receives, rewards and entertains her visitors. Several of these rooms were used for the Royal Wedding reception for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Prince William and Kate Middleton)
